These programs help youth become responsible, caring citizens. Youth develop leadership skills and gain opportunities for planning, decision-making, and celebrating our national heritage.
These Club programs help develop physical fitness, reduce stress and promote a positive use of leisure time, appreciation for the environment and interpersonal skills.
These programs are designed to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.
Boys & Girls Clubs’ unique approach to workforce readiness prepares youth for success in their first jobs and helps them develop a plan to achieve their chosen careers.
These programs develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors to nurture their well-being, set personal goals and grow into self-sufficient adults.
The Indiana Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs (IABGC) was formed in 2001 as a 501(c)(4) organization in an effort to combine the capacity of all statewide Boys & Girls Clubs organizations to seek financial support for common programs. Our mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
The State Alliance is the vehicle to submit proposals and secure state funding for Clubs. State Legislatures or State agencies grant monies to the Alliance and in turn the member Clubs are the sub-recipients of the funding. Currently, By-laws state that the Alliance is to raise funds solely from state government; it cannot solicit private funding opportunities. Those initiatives should to be administered through a local Club fiscal agent or BGCA, not the Alliance.
The IABGC is legally established under section 501(c)(4) of the IRS to “promote exclusively the social welfare of boys and girls as served by various Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Indiana that are affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) with board oversight” and as a subsidiary of BGCA and must have at least 51% of the board members appointed by BGCA. BGCA appointments are made by the Government Relations representatives. Non-BGCA Board members represent the state and are elected by the membership at the annual membership meeting.
Boys & Girls Clubs in Indiana (BGCIN) was formed in 2016 as a 501 (c)(3) organization in efforts to manage and implement additional funding that requires the 501 (c)(3) designation and to expand service opportunities throughout Indiana. BGCIN represents all 316 Boys & Girls Club organizations from across Indiana.
BGCIN provides programmatic oversight for our AmeriCorps program that includes over 160 AmeriCorps State (state competitive funded) members who serve within Clubs throughout Indiana. Our programs have been successful in the recruitment and retention of AmeriCorps members as well as addressing youth development issues related to education and healthy lifestyles through programs and activities at local Boys & Girls Clubs.
Our Project ACES (Accelerating Children through Education Support) Corps program serves members throughout Indiana where they serve with at-risk youth in education and healthy lifestyles programming. This program has served over 3,000 AmeriCorps members from since 2008. These Corps members have served with 20,913 volunteers who have provided over 150,000 hours of volunteer service back to the local Club and community with AmeriCorps member support.
Lana Taylor has been the State Alliance Director for the Indiana Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs (IABGC) since it’s conception in 2006. Lana has a Masters degree in School Psychology and Counseling from Butler University. Lana is responsible for grant writing, grant management, and reporting, as well as, overall alliance operations. Lana works directly with the Board of Directors on strategic planning, compliance and all things financial.
Jessica McKinley has been with the Indiana Alliance since 2011. She completed an AmeriCorps term of service prior to her leadership role. Jessica has a Masters of Leadership Development with a concentration in Nonprofit Studies degree and is a Certified Youth Practitioner through the Certified Youth Care Certification Board. Jessica is always working on forming new partnerships and community relationships throughout Indiana.
Amanda Caskey is the newest member to our team. Amanda joins us in our efforts to ensure optimal programming by collecting and measuring data for all our grants. Amanda ensures that grant requirements are met, and we can continue servicing our youth and increasing our abilities to offer programming in the future. Amanda enjoys spending time with her family when not working.
